Viewing Digital Images Online

  • When you view digital images on a web site many factors affect the colour, tone and brightness of the image you see
  • For example, your monitor settings for white point and gamma, and RGB alterations you have made....
  • ...and even the type of light falling on the monitor can all affect the colours you see on the screen.
  • Printed Photos of Africa images may therefore look different from the image you see on your monitor
  • To improve colour accuracy when viewing images online we suggest profiling your montior with the following settings
  • Colour temperature = 6500K, gamma = 2.2, white point = 100cd/m2
  • Ultimately we believe you will be very happy with images purchased from this site.

Stock Photography Technical Details

  • All images produced using high resolution NIKON cameras...
  • ...and NIKON series lenses, or...
  • ...medium or large format stills cameras, scanned using professional scanning equipment.
  • Colour managed 100% digital production process from image capture/scan to image output
  • Image files in resolutions from 72ppi to 360ppi
  • TIFF (8 or 16 bit) and JPEG (8 bit) file formats
  • Adobe RGB Colour space

Image Delivery

  • For smaller files images can be delivered via email and invoiced
  • Larger files will usually be written to CD or DVD Rom and posted with invoicing to follow.
  • Limited edition prints are paid for online with delivery between 1 and 2 weeks from receipt of payment
  • Limited edition canvas prints are paid for online with delivery between 2 and 4 weeks from receipt of payment.
Prices

Our prices vary according to usages and start at around $150. We have cut our overheads where possible in order to give you the best possible prices, but we have not compromised in the process of making the pictures and are continuing to produce images in an environment of ever-rising costs.

How to License Photos and Video's from Photos of Africa
All images/video on this site are copyright © 2008 Photos of Africa
Pricing for Print
Pricing is based on several factors. Please let me know as much of the following information as possible:

  • Specific Use: i.e. magazine cover, book, advertising literature, brochure etc.
  • Industry: publishing, magazine, press, advertising, design etc.
  • Distribution area local, national, international
  • Intended image size: i.e. A4, A3, A2, Magazine full page, Magazine half page.
  • Total circulation: Print circulation, readership circulation.
  • Duration: amount of time you would like to use the image - e.g. one time publication.

Generally, licenses are granted for one-time non-exclusive use. This means you can use the image for one type of publication. If you use the image in a magazine, but then decide later to use the image in a calendar this will require the purchase of an additional license. Exclusive use can be arranged. Please contact me to discuss.
Pricing for Web
Images are generally licensed for use on one domain only (i.e. www.yourdomain.com). Multi-domain or multi-media use licensing can be arranged. Image colour and tone can be adjusted for web usage as required. Images licensed for web usage must be re-licensed for additional use on other domains or in other publications. A web usage license does not include entitlement to resell the image or reuse the image in any way. If additional use of the image is required or intended then please contact me to discuss.
Commissions and Projects
Commissions are generally priced on the basis of a daily rate plus unavoidable expenses (travel, lodging, etc.). The daily rate includes access to all images arising from the commission for use as specified prior to project commencement. Image use will be specified and agreed upfront and copyright of all images remains with Photos of africa unless otherwise agreed. This arrangement can be tailored to clients requirements in order to reduce the total cost of the project or to allow more flexibility in final use of the image. Please contact me to discuss.

For Royalty-Free images/video you pay a once-off, predetermined amount. This allows you to use the image in any which way you please, and the cost is independent from your print-run. The catch is that you do not have any exclusivity on your images, which allows your competition to also buy the same image for usage.

Rights-Managed images/video, seeing that once an image is purchased we guarantee exclusive use for a certain time span. The costs, as well as the restrictions of usage, of Rights-Managed images are determined in an agreement between us and the client. It might be more expensive, but Rights-Managed images ensure the exclusivity you might require.

According to South African law you are not allowed to use images/video of people for advertising or commercial purposes if you do not have permission from them to do so. The majority of Photos of Africa photos are model released and carry no legal implications for you as client – which set us apart from many other image banks around. If you have any request about the legal usage of your images feel free to give us a call at any time.

Apart from our wide range of images available on the web, we also have more than 100 000 photos in house and our dedicated image searchers are waiting to assist you in finding the perfect images for your designs.

Should our stock photography/video library and our rights-managed concept not meet your specific needs, we offer the splendid solution of individual photo shoots. Our team of experienced photographers can capture in splendid images anything you may require. Shoots can be arranged at a spacious studio or our team can come to you with their mobile studio. We arrange all models, make-up artists and possible props to provide you with an absolutely tailor-made solution. And above all, we offer this service and negotiated image use at surprisingly affordable rates to meet your specific requirements and budget. contact

Ivory Multi Media reserves the right to pursue unauthorized users of this image or clip. If you violate our intellectual property you may be liable for: actual damages, loss of income, and profits you derive from the use of this image or clip, and, where appropriate, the costs of collection and/or statutory damages up to $150,000 (USD).
